This 1947 Dodge 4 Door Sedan properly named “Swoopy” is a beautiful vehicle with art deco touches, clean lines and a swoopy hot rodder feel. Not many people would consider a ’47 Dodge to be a beautiful car, let alone take on the daunting task of making it into a show stopper, but that did not stop Mike Kinney from turning his dreams into reality! This project has been 10 years in the making with so many custom one off design aspects that you will notice something different each time you see this car in person.
Some of the custom design features that Phil Leatherman over at Extreme Automotive has done that you may or may not notice is that everything is hidden on this car to stick with that “Swoopy” feel. There was pain staking measures taken in hiding everything on this car from switches for the electronic shifter to the gauges for the air ride. Everything from the dash to the center console and interior door ascents were made of metal.

Some of the custom work done on the interior that you need to take notice of are the handmade custom chrome molding in the headliner and down the center console, the beautiful Italian leather that was used throughout, eloquently matched with an equally impressive Italian suede insert, the custom molded flame design in the trunk, and the “S” emblem, located on each seat and in the trunk are all of which would have been show stoppers in themselves, but put them together and WOW!
The paint is all DuPont Hot Hues, shot by non other that Phil Leatherman with Extreme Automotive and the custom flames were done by Dave with California Designs in Norco, California.
Like I said before, there is some much to this car that you have to see it to believe it. Congratulations again Mike Kinney and everyone involved in bringing “Swoopy” to life.
“Swoopy” “Swoopy” “Swoopy”!!!
